Rock and ice experiment

In class we made an experiment on boulders and ice. We rolled some play dough into a ball and then wet it under the tap. Next we wrapped the ball in glad wrap, we put the ball into the freezer. We took it out to see if it had cracked.

Our experiment didn't work the first time so we tried again.

Otago players visit

Yesterday we had lock Jackson Hemopo (Palmerston North),  prop Hisa Sasagi (Samoa) and  lock Blair Tweed (Waitahuna) from the Otago ITM Cup rugby team visit us. Jade was nominated for kid of the week and is going to run the ball out to the middle of the field at the Otago game against Tasman on Friday!

Anatomy museum and Iceskating

This week our whole school went to the Anatomy Museum at the University of Otago and then ice skating at the Ice Stadium. It was a good day.

Today we had to write and design a poster that showed why the human hand was so important to us. We learnt how to work well together as well as how many bones are in each finger and all the different things that we can do with our hands. It made us realize how amazing and useful our hands are in every day life. We used QR codes as a treasure hunt to find useful links for information and diagrams. We really enjoyed this project.
