FREEZE, DRY AND WET
First we got a spade from the sport shed. Then we went to the potato patch and dug some dry soil and put it in a ice cream container. Next we went to the old abandoned garden and dug up some wet soil and put it in a container. Then we went to the office and put the containers in the freezer. Our hypothesis was that the dirt would freeze up and start cracking. We opened the freezer after the dirt had been in there for three days. Nothing had happened it looked the same but when we touched it it was solid.
Destroying Mt Williams
On Tuesday we started to do some experiments. Our experiment was to make a mountain with sand, dirt, gravel and clay. Then we made it in to the shape of a mountain. Lastly we showed how erosion changed the shape of our mountain to the class. Our question was "what washed away first?" and it was the top. Another question was what was the strongest part of a mountain and it was the bottom because it was way more compact and had more support.
Volcano Experiment
We made a model of a volcano this is how we did it. We tipped water in sand to make it wet so the volcano set in place. We put a cup inside the volcano and made pink lava from baking soda, dye, dish washing liquid and vinegar. It spewed out of the volcano.

Rock and ice experiment
In class we made an experiment on boulders and ice. We rolled some play dough into a ball and then wet it under the tap. Next we wrapped the ball in glad wrap, we put the ball into the freezer. We took it out to see if it had cracked.
.
Our experiment didn't work the first time so we tried again.
