The String Family

This term in music we are learning about instruments of the orchestra. This week we examined the string family, listening to the violin, viola, cello and double bass playing together and on their own. We all had a go at playing a viola, we thought some people made lovely sounds and others sounded like a creaky door! This was a video we watched of a very talented viola player - we love the mellow but rich sound of the viola.

  1. Hi Cate,
I just loved reading this post and I loved listening to the music clip too! Now you have shared your learning and teaching far further than your class. I love how you describe the mellow and rich sound of the viola! Do any of your class play an instrument? If you do it would be very cool to record you and put it on the blog for others to hear. Sometimes when we hear ourselves it can help us strive to get better.
