The Library Visit

On Wednesday after Hui Ako we went to the Mosgiel Library. Diane read us a story called 'The Three Little Pigs'.We also played in the park.
We got mask books from the library and most of the kids issued books out.

Albatross Colony Visit

On September the 1st Lee Stream School went to the Albatross Colony. First we met in the car park. We went in, we split into two groups. One group headed to the Disappearing Gun and the other group went to the observation room to look at the albatross. 

From the room where the Disappearing Gun was you could see for miles, way up the coast. We could see two albatrosses near the lighthouse. Up in the observatory room we learnt how the albatross can die and we learnt how the rangers look after them. They wear different coloured bands on their feet which tell us what number they are and how old they are. The colour of the bill of an albatross tells us if they are a baby or an adult. A baby bill is grey and an adult is pink.

We have been training for this event for 10 weeks and this year it paid off. We ran very well winning the trophy back from St Mary's.

Mini Olympics

Two Fridays ago in discovery we competed in the Mini Olympics. We did it in are library, in our mask groups. In the Mini Olympics there were three events which were paper plate discus, straw javelin and pom pom shot put. In the ceremony the first place contestant got to stand on the table. The second got to stand on a chair, and third stood on the floor. It was a pretty hard competition and those who won deserved it. While we were up on the podium a mini flag got raised and the national anthem got played.

On Thursday the 12th Bob Bickerton came to show us and Macraes same of his instruments.Some of them were called the harp and some flutes. I love the sound of the harp. Bob Bickerton had some Maori flutes.

On the 12.5.16 Macraes School came to Lee Stream to have a visit. At play time we had a game of super touch with the Macraes kids.I got two tries and my team won eighteen to seven.I did a face plant dive try.After play time Macraes School left back to their school.

Today Diane Joyce, Ben and Max and Harley's mum came to school to help us make Easter bunnies.

 First we got a facecloth and laid it flat in a diamond shape.

 We rolled it tightly into the middle from the corner, turned it around and rolled it tightly again into the middle from the other side.

We placed an Easter egg in the middle and folded the cloth in half. We then tied a rubber band around the top to hold it in place.

 A ribbon was then tied around the neck. This covered the rubber band. Googly eyes were glued on and pink cheeks were added. These were made from cotton wool. We then glued on a nose with a hot glue gun.

Finally we glued on the whiskers which was made from black cotton. 





Wahoo!!! the finished product. WE were very proud of our bunnies. Happy Easter everyone. Thank you Dianne and Jakob for creating this blog.
